WINDSOR, Colo. — As the first snow of the winter season descended upon northern Colorado, it marked a shift in priorities for the Future Legends facilities team.

“Our day to day operations change just a bit,” Future Legends facilities manager Tino Miranda said. “With fields not being used as much because of the cold weather and irrigation lines getting blown out, we tend to move our focus on indoor tasks.”

The indoor tasks at the Complex, while not as public facing, can be as important or more important than things like field maintenance, as the indoor areas consist of things like food preparation and storage, and of course bathrooms that need to be kept clean and stocked.

“Indoor tasks consist of deep cleaning locker rooms, concession stands, bathrooms and any other rooms that aren’t currently being used, to prepare them for when they are back in use,” Miranda said.

With the fields at the Complex mostly dormant, it does provide opportunities to take care of things that may get overlooked during the busier times of year, when priorities lie in keeping fields watered, maintained, and ready for use consistently.

“We can take on small projects such as repainting walls, tightening any loose fixtures, replacing batteries and organizing our equipment and tools,” Miranda said.  “That only allows us to get ahead of the game once we start to move our focus back outdoors come spring time.”

The last outdoor event scheduled for the Complex in 2025 is the Santa Smash softball tournament on December 6.
