Future Legends Adds Torii Hunter as Investing Partner
WINDSOR, Colo. — Future Legends announces five-time MLB all-star Torii Hunter as an investing partner in the Future Legends Complex project.
“They have pretty much everything covered at this facility,” Hunter said. “This is something that’s new. It’s unfamiliar. At the same time, it’s going to be creative and fun for the youth. I was definitely going to be a part of it.”
Future Legends’ ownership group is definitely thrilled he’s a part of it.
“To have the support and partnership of my friend Torii in Future Legends provides children with an unmatched experience-based perspective on sports and life,” Majority Owner Jeff Katofsky said. “It will only enhance the memories that we hope to create at our one of a kind complex.”
“Having Torii as a member of the Future Legends family is truly an honor,” Executive Director of Operations Casey Katofsky said. “His love for the game and his efforts in expanding participation in youth sports around the country is admirable at the highest level. He is a role model to athletes of all ages nationwide, including myself.”
The nine-time MLB Gold Glove Award winner recognizes the impact a project of this scale can have on young people. Especially ones who grew up like he did.
“I was able to fly from Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Santa Fe, New Mexico [for a youth tournament], and it was the first time ever leaving my home,” Hunter said. “I wanted to share that same sentiment to kids coming from places that they never thought they would get out of. Through sports, they get a chance to broaden their horizons.”
But it’s not just sports that had Hunter hooked on the idea.
“The esports center is huge,” he said. “My son Darius is a gamer. It’s an art, and it really is a sport. They compete in their own way, but it’s still competing. I think Future Legends did a great job including creatives. You always kind of forget about them. At Future Legends, we’re putting them at the forefront.”
He’s investing in the all-encompassing, all-inclusive nature of the project. He’s also investing in all the positive reinforcement that can come from the complex.
“Sports teach you so much about life,” Hunter said. “Learning to compete. Learning to accept failure. Learning to build relationships. Learning to lead. And I think this is where the foundation is.
“Sometimes, it’s indescribable. There’s nothing to compare it to. To be a part of something like Future Legends, I just feel like it was perfect.”
