WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado is still waiting for its first snow of the winter season, making it one of the latest first snows in the area’s history.

The lack of snow, plus the warmer weather that has persisted into November, has created different challenges for the Future Legends facilities team, challenges they say are not unwelcome.

“We are more than happy to experience this warmer weather this late into the year,” Future Legends facilities manager Tino Miranda said. “Normally by this time in the year we have experienced a few days of snow and colder temperatures.”

The calmer, more mild weather late into the fall means the facilities team can focus less on winterizing fields and equipment and more on keeping facilities in shape for regular use.

“As long as the weather stays nice we are continuing to find projects that will improve the complex, whether it’s mowing, weed trimming, power washing dugouts or walls, then we will take full advantage of the remaining days we have left,” Miranda said.

Future Legends to continue to host practices and games for various sports on the complex, taking advantage of the beneficial conditions. Events at the Complex are scheduled up to an including an adult softball tournament in early December, weather permitting.

“With warm temperatures like it has been lately, we look forward to continuing to prepare practice and games fields for softball, soccer and other sports,” Miranda said. “Any time we are able to bring users onto the complex then it fills us with joy knowing kids are outside staying active.”
